MICHAEL BAUTISTA - TRIMMING

Michael joined OPEN in 2020 as a Part II Architectural Assistant, before this he completed both his bachelor’s and master’s degree at Newcastle University. His master’s thesis was a dystopian tale commenting on societies reliance on data and social media, inspired heavily by George Orwell’s novel 1984.
Michael is enthusiastic about architecture that has a focus on attention to detail and material, he believes this can create unique spaces which not only compliment but improve their setting. Having gained numerous years of experience working in the North East on a wide variety of projects including residential, civic, development, heritage, leisure and healthcare projects of varying values, he looks forward to see what the warmer South East has to offer. He hopes to begin his Part III in the near future.
Michael enjoys graphic design and illustrations putting his passion to use during his time at university, being a co-founder, editor and graphic designer of Newcastle’s Architecture School’s student run zine production before he graduated, as well as editing and curating a number of printed publications.
Outside the office Michael is an avid squash player, he also likes to get outdoors, spending his time playing golf, cycling and travelling as much as possible.
