Cornerstone, Woking

OPEN architecture worked alongside the main contractor to renovate and convert this run-down office building into 94 highly contemporary flats for key workers.  

The original fabric of the building was fully refurbished and upgraded including a new zinc mansard roof and replacement ribbon windows in a crittal style. This brought the existing building up to modern performance standards whilst ensuring a more attractive finish.

The interior was completely transformed and subdivided into new 1 & 2 bed apartments along with studio flats. 

The existing concrete structural waffle floor slabs were exposed to create a unique and memorable feature along with exposed building services to create a modern industrial style.

The design allowed for built-in plywood furniture and kitchens giving the building a highly contemporary and vibrant feel.
