We are thrilled that our very own Stephanie Mason has been shortlisted for the Best Architect or Designer for an Extension Project by Build IT Awards for our Ide Hill project!

Stephanie is passionate about designing spaces which are beautiful yet functional and this is the ethos that is taken into each and every project here at OPEN architecture. In the case of Ide Cottage, the higgedly piggedly layout of this period property didn’t work for its owners, a busy family of five who love to entertain and have friends to stay. Stephanie worked very closely with the client to understand their needs and then developed well considered ideas, drawing on her in depth knowledge of residential architecture to create something extraordinary. The collaborative approached continued through to the build stage working alongside the contractors.

The layout has now been reconfigured and flows freely and the ground floor extension connects to the garden and surrounding views of the village and woodland. The design has given all the family members their own space but also a place for them to enjoy being together.

We are always asked how architects can add value and this project is a real example of the benefits we can offer; creating a home which allows a family to function better and that will leave a lasting impression.
