Extension Alterations To Retirement Home - OPEN Architecture

APPROVED EXTENSION & ALTERATIONS PROPOSAL TO RETIREMENT HOME IN TUNBRIDGE WELLS

Tunbridge Wells Borough Council have granted planning permission for our proposed works to a sheltered retirement home in central Tunbridge Wells, Kent.

The aim of the scheme is to deliver a range of improvements for residents and staff at Abbeyfields House. With the home being established in the 1980’s and growing to occupy a terrace of three Edwardian houses, OPEN architecture has had to solve a number of operational inadequacies that had remained from this piecemeal growth. The new ground floor layout relocates one of the front flats and provides new ensuites for two others, so that administration, kitchen, laundry, dining and lounge facilities can all be moved around to find improved locations. One of the two new single storey extensions provides a larger and much lighter dining and lounge area that will connect with the new courtyard landscape scheme. As part of the scheme, services are being upgraded and the side garage converted to provide larger laundry and workshop facilities.
