INTERNAL REMODELLING OF AN HISTORIC PENTHOUSE APARTMENT

INTERNAL REMODELLING OF A HISTORIC PENTHOUSE APARTMENT

We have received listed building consent to refurbish and optimise the layout of a penthouse apartment in a historic building in Folkestone by Folkestone and Hythe District Council. As part of our proposal, new entrances will be formed at the fourth floor allowing the fifth floor landings to be incorporated into the curtilage of the apartment. We have also recommended improving the thermal efficiency of the property by making upgrades to the floor, walls and ceilings where possible.

The internal reconfiguration of the layout includes strategic removal of walls to open up the apartment and optimise the flow between spaces. Three distinct zones have been created in the main living area;  with dining towards the front, the kitchen relocated beneath the large roof lantern at the centre of the plan and the lounge to the rear, with views of the harbour and sea beyond from the dormer windows.

Given the nature of the project, all work will be completed by a contractor with extensive experience of historic renovations and conservation work.

We are inspired by the people we work with
